| It used to be that Canadians would receive a package delivery attempt notice, which stated if you owed any brokerage or duty fees. This gave you the option of refusing the package if the fees are unreasonnable, or asking the seller to re-evaluate the package. FedEx's new strategy is to deliver the item with no mention of fees, and if you ask them if you owe anything, they give you the "that's our brokering firm's responsibility, we don't have that information" blanket answer. You accept the box and go on with your life, install the beautiful shiny Z parts you received from the US, and a full MONTH later, you get a bill in the mail for brokerage fees due. Now I wouldn't even have mentioned this had their rates been reasonnable. In my case, it was $26 due for delivery of a $50 item from the US. Imagine the slap in the face for a more considerable purchase! Cliff notes: Canada sucks.
